Notorious Guard Robs His Employer Of 5 Wrist Watches And Huge Cash

The police have apprehended a 35-year-old guard, Opeyemi Badmus, for allegedly stealing from his boss, Soname Akinola.

It was gathered that Akinola, who recently came back to Nigeria from the UK met the guard and a house servant, who were employed by his spouse while he was abroad.

Akinola alleged that he traveled to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and when he came back home, five wristwatches and an undisclosed quantity of pound had been stolen.

The complainant told the police that when he quizzed the security guard and the housemaid about the missing items, they both denied taking them.

He said, “I travelled on October 18, 2018, to Ogbomoso and returned two days later. Immediately I entered the house, I noticed the main entrance door was open. On getting to my room, I found out that five wristwatches valued at N600,000 and my dollars and pounds had been stolen.”

The guard and the housemaid were reportedly arrested and taken to a police station, where Badmus allegedly confessed to stealing the wristwatches, but denied taking the money.

“I saw the wristwatches in the leather bag and I removed two; I do not know anything about the money,” he told the police. He was arraigned before the Candide Johnson Magistrates’ Courthouse, Ikorodu, on one count of stealing.

The magistrate, Mrs F. Azeez, granted him bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties each in like sum.

South Africa's Minister, Malusi Gigaba Resigns Over S*x Scandal

In line with the new report acquired, a South African Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba resigned on Tuesday, the presidency announced, two weeks after a public standards watchdog said he had violated the constitution by lying under oath in court.

Gigaba, a close ally of ousted former president Jacob Zuma, had recently vowed not to step down after also being caught up in a leaked s*x tape scandal.

A statement from President Cyril Ramaphosa’s office announced that Gigaba said he had resigned “to relieve the President from undue pressure” and to allow Ramaphosa to focus on saving the country from “economic meltdown”.

Gigaba, 47, was once seen as rising star of the ANC ruling party, leading the party’s youth wing and being quickly promoted into the ministerial ranks.

But he became entangled in graft allegations during Zuma’s time in office. Gigaba’s exit removes a key Zuma loyalist from the government led since February by Ramaphosa, who has vowed to root out the corruption reputed to have flourished under Zuma.

Gigaba was reprimanded last month by the public protector ombudswoman after he testified in a 2017 court case filed by a company controlled by the wealthy Oppenheimer family.

Ombudswoman Busisiwe Mkhwebane recommended that Ramaphosa take disciplinary action against the minister for “telling an untruth under oath and before a court of law”.

The allegations were probed after a complaint from the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) party. The court case hinged on whether Gigaba had given the Oppenheimers approval to have a private terminal at Johannesburg airport.

Gigaba has also said he was recently the target of extortion attempts after a private s*x video was stolen by hacking. Gigaba served as finance minister for a year under Zuma, who was ousted as president by the ANC party in February over mounting graft scandals.

When Ramaphosa succeeded Zuma, he moved Gigaba to the home affairs ministry. Gigaba has been linked to corruption allegations against the wealthy Gupta family, who are suspected of benefitting from unfair and hugely lucrative government contracts under Zuma.

A judicial inquiry, which opened in August, is investigating allegations that Zuma and the Guptas organised a web of corrupt deals at government departments and public enterprises in a scandal known as “state capture”.

South Africa, Africa’s most advanced economy, slipped into recession in the second quarter of this year, and suffers a stubbornly high unemployment of about 28 percent.

The country will hold general elections in May. Nhlanhla Nene resigned as finance minister last month over undisclosed meetings with the Guptas.

A 12-Year-Old Girl, Tawa Taiwo Kidnapped In Ilorin Found In Ekiti

A 12-year-old lady was kidnapped in Ilorin, Kwara State, but has currently been found in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State. Tawa Taiwo was found roaming the streets of Oye-Ekiti on Monday and was questioned by residents after she was taken into custody at Oye-Ekiti police station from where she is going to be taken to the native council to be transferred to the Ministry of women Affairs and Social Development.

"We saw her roaming around and her outlook resembled somebody that was frightened. Our curiosity was aroused by the fact that she was moving around at a time pupils of her age are in their various schools. She said her name was Tawa and her father’s name was Taiwo and that she was kidnapped from Ilorin and later abandoned at Ayede-Ekiti from where she trekked to Oye-Ekiti."

Meanwhile, she was unable to provide details with which the police can reach her family so they can be reunited.

NSCDC Arrests 3 Kidnappers In Niger State

The Nigeria Security and civil defense Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State has apprehended three suspected kidnappers in Pandagori in Rafi local government area of Niger State.

The state Corps commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba who paraded the suspects before newsmen on Wednesday, stated that they'd been terrorising residents of the area for some time.

Based on the commandant, Ayuba said that the operatives of the command rounded up the suspects in their hideawayin Pantogari town, following an intelligence report.

He explained that the suspects, in their confessional statements, said they were in Pantogora to perfect their strategy to kidnap Alhaji Adamu Hassan while demanding N10 million as ransom.

He said that the three suspects later agreed for N4 million, failure of which the victim would be killed.

The commandant also stated that one of the suspects had worked for the victim where 150 cows and 170 sheep were stolen from him.
“All the three suspects confessed to the crime and would be charged to court after investigation.

“Exhibits found in their possession included a mobile phone with six sim cards of different networks,” he said.

Five persons have been reported killed and several others missing in a communal clash that ensued between the people of Ebijakara, Ebom and Usumutong communities in Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when the people of Ebom, who had been refugees in Usumutong finally left to their ancestral home, Ebom.

It was gathered that the people of Ebijakar, who were driven from their ancestral home by Ebom people over thirteen years ago, decided to go back without informing their host; but the youths of Ebom resisted them from entering their ancestral home.

The Village Head of Usumutong, who is the paramount ruler of Abi Local Government Area, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oval Solomon Osim Edward, confirmed the development to our reporter on Wednesday.

He said, “This morning (Wednesday), I heard that they left to their ancestral home in Ebom, they didn’t tell anybody, so when they got to Ebom, the people of Ebom resisted them from entering their community.

“Ebom people pursued them back and they wanted to come to Usumutong, but our youths repelled them since they have left. For now, peace has gradually returned to the area but we don’t know what would happen tomorrow whether they will re-enforce and come back,” he stated.

“The Ebijakara people have been out of the community for the past 13 years and we in Usumutong have been harbouring them and we have been restraining them from going out for war with their neighbours.

“Recently, the Ebom people abducted two of our sons and when they threatened going back to their land, we have no control over them so we asked them to go.

“But the Ebom people pursued them back to Usumutong and we also said they should not come back, our youths pursued them back, saying they should remain there. Ebom drove them up to our boundary but we resisted them from coming in as well.

“However, we have been invited by the Governor for a meeting on Tuesday, all the Chiefs in Babuno will be there, those who would not come, it is left for them” he further stated.

The Village Head of Ebom, Chief Henry Bassey also told DAILY POST on phone that the Usumutong people arrived their territory this morning (Wednesday) and started shooting guns threatening and attacking his people.

“Our people are still in the bush, they have not returned to enable me know how many are missing or dead, when they return, they will come to my house but as at now, the situation is dicing.”

Meanwhile, an eyewitness, who simply gave his name as Ntui said “These people, Ebijaghara left our village (Usumutong), organised themselves, regrouped and went to Ebom, right now the fighting is still going on, houses have been burnt. It is Ebijakara people that attacked Ebom”.

Interestingly, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Inuwa Hafiz told our correspondent on phone on Wednesday that some women went to farm and were assaulted.

“We have since sent some police men to the area, as I speak to you now, the Area Commander, and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and traditional rulers of the communities are meeting.

“So, many communities are fighting themselves, as I speak now, they are holding peace meeting because that was the report presented this morning.

“They are suspecting that it was Usumutong people who attacked Ebom and assaulted them. We have tried to stop the matter from degenerating into a full scale war.

“No report about death or destruction of property. We have to move in policemen to curb the situation,” Hafiz stated.

Armed Robber Kills A Colleague After Fleeing Mob In Bayelsa

An armed robbery suspect that was fleeing mob action in Bayelsa state has reportedly killed his own colleague. According to a reporters, it had been a case of poetic justice for a four-man armed robbery gang as one of them shot one of his colleagues to death as they made desperate tries to flee mob action in Yenegoa, the Bayelsa metropolis, on Monday night.

The incident, which occurred at around 8 pm along the Imgbi Road, Amarata, came few days after the killing of a 17-year-old student of the Niger Delta University by suspected cult members.

The four young men, suspected to be cult members, allegedly stormed two supermarkets opposite a first generation bank on Imgbi Road, with locally-made handguns and rob the owner of one of the supermarkets at gunpoint.

Luck, however, ran out on them as their attempt to enter the other supermarket was thwarted by the bravery of one of the residents, who hauled a stone at them and attracted more residents, who reportedly gave them a chase.

As they were fleeing the scene in a tricycle, a man driving an SUV collided with the tricycle from behind, making it to tumble near the bank premises.

Eyewitnesses said it was the gunshot of one of the robbers, in his desperation to escape, that hit his colleague, who was the driver of the tricycle.

While the three others scaled a fence to escape, the one hit by the bullet was unable to escape and was apprehended, but bled to death before the police could arrive.

When our correspondent got to the scene of the incident, the corpse of the dead member of the gang was still on the ground, while a locally-made hand gun and the tricycle used for the operation were recovered by the mob and handed over to the police.

When contacted, the spokesman for the state Police Command, DSP Butswat Asinim, did not pick his phone and did not call back as of the time of filing this report.

Rivers state based hair stylist has narrated her ordeal after being extorted and sexually harassed by SARS operatives in Rukpokwu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

"@opetodolapo Today is definitely one of my worst days.. I woke up a bit feverish with slight headache so I cancelled my activities for the day, at about 6:30pm I decided to go get drugs,because my condition seemed to be getting serious and also get pizza for my mum just 7mins drive away from my estate..

On getting back to my estate, a blue Prado jeep stopped right in front of me and some armed men on uniform came out asking me to park for a search, I obliged, they went through all the vehicle papers and drivers license etc very much complete..

The next question I was asked was they needed to see my company Id ,I tried to explain to them I didn't have it on me because I just drove out to get pizza from the next bus stop and they said I was under arrest for stealing a vehicle and I couldn't give them an ID of where I work, I obliged and we drove to their station and the whole story changed.. One of the officers made a phone call and he said I was among the criminals they received a call about..

I tried to beg, I even showed proof of the medications I got, they gave me a paper to make a statement,in the process they took my phones from me and started going through my phone, from my chats call logs down to my bank mails etc.... After spending 2hrs with them they demanded for a sum of 2million naira as my bail,for a crime I do not know.. This is pure wickedness and evil... I never stole, robbed, violated any rules etc... We finally came to an agreement after keeping me hostage from 6pm till 12am that I should pay them 100,000naira..

One of the officers even approached me trying to sexually harass me!! This same men didn't even mind the time they comfortably drove me to an ATM machine so I could make a withdrawal for them... These men are criminals!! I was granted bail by 1:30am after spending 7good hours... Someone's hard earn money This Is totally unacceptable, Are you guys not meant to be protecting lives ? Why will you extort someone of their hard earn sweat!! I thought SARS had ended... (officers names are : officer Matt, Emma, security, Friday) "

Cardi B in the video said she has been very depressed as she can't stop losing weight' after the delivery of her four month old baby named Kulture.

Two Women Killed Along Motorway In Anambra

The corpses of two women was yesterday discovered lying by the motorway means after the federal government school of Education, Technical, Umunze, just at the doorway of the path­way to Loum villagers’ farms in Anambra State.

It was conjointly discovered that the women had their tongues cut off and looked freshly killed. The police were later invited to evacuate their bodies.

50-Year-Old Man, Tunde Ogunlade Arrested For R*ping A Physically Challenged Lady

A 50-year-old carpenter known as Tunde Ogunlade, has been apprehended for raping a 20-year-old physically-challenged unfit girl after giving her N50 in Akure, Ondo State.

The defendant, Ogunlade, who was invited to work in a house at No. J3X Newtown Oke-Aro, Akure, belonging to a family friend of the victims, lured the lady into the bathroom and took advantage of her condition to rape her.

The suspect, who confessed to the crime described the incident as the handiwork of the devil, saying he could not explain how the incident happened.

His words: “I was working in their house when I saw the girl and I touched her and she hugged me before I put my finger into her private part. I did not sleep with her but I fingered her.

It was when she was going that I noticed she was stained with blood and I followed her to the bathroom to clean her up.

I don’t know what come over me because I was never involved in such an act and as a father, I will not be happy to see my daughter being treated like this, but I will take responsibility if the parents insisted I must marry her.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph, however, said the father of three would soon be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
