13-Year-Old Ochanya Elizabeth That Was R*ped By Her Guardian Buried Amidst Tears

It was a tragic day at Ogene-Amejo Village in Okpokwu local government of Benue State on Fri, November 2, 2018, as the remains of Ochanya Elizabeth Ogbanje that died from complications of VVF was finally arranged to rest.

Ochanya, a 13-year-old lady, was allegedly raped by her guardian, Andrew Ogbuja, a lecturer at the Benue State polytechnic, Ugbokolo.

Oguja, 61, and his son, Victor, allegedly began molesting sexually since she was eight – a state of affairs that exposed her to developing Vesicohoneypotl Fistula (VVF).

In a video by an activist, Ukan Kurugh, family members, civil society organizations and community members paid their last respect to Ochanya.

While lamenting Ochanya’s death, they urged the government to ensure that the perpetrators of the act are brought to book.

Meanwhile, Ugbuja, Ochanya’s alleged rapist has been remanded in prison till hearing on the matter in court on November 29, 2018.

Similarly, the Order of the Knights of Saint Mulumba in Nigeria has suspended Ugbuja pending the delivery of judgment on the matter.

Police Arrests Notorious Robbers In Alaba, Lagos

Lagos state police command has smashed a bank robbery syndicate that had been terrorising Alaba Market and its environment.

Seven suspects were apprehended together with one Olalekan Ayoola that specialised in hacking into bank accounts using victims’ ATM cards, Sim cards, voters’ cards and driver’s licences.

Other suspects were Ayobami Ibrahim a.k.a Label Money, 21, Mufutau Ibrahim a.k.a Shakushaku, 25, Ogundiran Adeniyi, a.k.a MM Papa, 24, Emmanuel Chukwu a.k.a Makabelly, 25, Dare Oyetola a.k.a Paper and Sodiq Olalere. The suspects were arrested at various locations and their arms and ammunition were recovered.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, and the suspects were paraded with other suspected criminals at the Police Command, Lagos.

The police boss said that on 7th October, 2018, the police received credible information that some armed men were sighted making unauthorized withdrawals at about midnight at Stanbic Bank branch at Alaba using the ATM machine and cards suspected to have been stolen from members of the public.

He said that based on the information, the police operatives from Ojo Division and FSARS Ikeja were mobilized to the scene where they arrested two of the robbers while the other gang members escaped.

CP Edgal said that when they were searched, stolen Diamond Bank and UBA Bank ATM cards including Nokia mobile phones were recovered from the suspects.

During interrogation, they confessed that they belonged to an armed robbery gang known as Blue Water Boys and they had been terrorising the area for some time. They mentioned Ojo, Agric, Okokomaiko, Ajangbadi, Ijaniki, Iba and its environs as areas they operated in and controlled before their arrest.

The suspects further confessed that they robbed the owner of a restaurant at Araromi Street in Iba area and in the process dispossessed the victim of her phone and ATM cards.

Edgal said that the confession of Ayoola led to the arrest of the other gang members in various areas.

The police alleged that exhibits recovered from them included: four cut to size single barrel locally made gun, 13 unexpended live cartridges and expended cartridge, three laptop computers, phones of various makes and ATM cards.

Man Kills Own Mother And R*pes Her Corpse In Edo

An Edo State community is presently bemoaning the horrifying abomination committed by a young man that killed his mother and still defiled her remains.

A 21-year-old boy, known as Samuel Emobor Oghenekporboro, has allegedly killed his mother and still move ahead to own multiple relation along with her corpse.

These bizarre incidents happened at Ologbo Community, on Benin-Sapele road, in Ikpoba-Okha Edo State.

Spokesman for Edo Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said investigation was ongoing as the suspect would be arraigned soon.

Drama As Man Cancels Daughter’s Wedding On Wedding Day Because The Husband-To-Be Disrespects Him

A couple’s wedding day turned to a sad one after the bride’s father abruptly called off the occasion. According to reports, Oluwaseun Adugbe’s father called off her wedding to Tunji Curtis, her fiance of five years and the father of her five year old child.

Tunji had arrived Ibadan with his family and friends to marry the love of his life but to his uttermost shock, his father in-law told him point blank that the wedding had been called off.

When asked why he took such a rash decision, the father, Mr Adugbe who is a native of Edo state, told the groom that he failed to honor a meeting he called for on Friday which should have preceded the wedding on Saturday.

Tunji’s elder sister, Abibat, who came to Ibadan with about 15 persons, including family members and friends, said she was disappointed by the actions of the bride’s family, adding that

Police Arrests A Togolese Cook That Killed His Boss In Ondo

Togolese cook who was a suspect has been arrested for allegedly killing Chief Ope Bamidose in a surprising revelations he made.

The Ondo state police command apprehended a 22-year-old Togolese cook, Sunday Anani, over the murder of his boss, Chief Opeyemi Bademosi, a influential person and chairman of Credit Switch Technology.

Chief Bademosi was found dead within the pool of his blood by his spouse in their home at Parkview estate, Lagos on Wed, October 31st.

Anani who is the prime suspect within the murder of Chief Ope Bademosi, was arrested at his hiding place in Ondo State.

In a video posted online, Sunday alleged that some persons, believed to be assassins, came to their home on the day of the incident and killed the deceased.

”I am not the one that killed him. About four people entered the house that morning. They passed through the front door and opened the kitchen door. Immediately I asked who is that. They blew my face and neck and then started to drag me on the floor.

They asked me where was chief? I used to call him Oga. So I asked them who be chief? I told them Chief is inside his room. They said where is his wife?

I said his wife had gone out. They told me if I don’t say the truth, they would kill me. They blew me again and immediately I pointed to Chief’s room,” he said.

Money Doubling Shrine Uncovers In Lagos

Men of the Nigeria police in Lagos state have busted a cash doubling shrine in in the state that makes a specialty of duping innocent victims.

The police in Lagos have uncovered a shrine that suspected fraudsters used to scam innocent individuals under the pretense of making the victims wealthy.

It was gathered that police operatives uncovered the shrine at Imota area of Ikorodu, Lagos, where four treasure boxes containing some charms were recovered.

Two of the operators, Adekunle Adeniyi, 50 and Faleke Fijabi, 52, have been arrested and detained by the police in connection with the alleged fraud.

This was disclosed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, at the State Command. The suspects were also paraded with other suspected criminals by the police.

The police boss said that on 23rd October, 2018, the police received information that some group of persons were sighted going from one compound to another at Imota area of Ikorodu, promising unsuspecting members of the public that they had the capacity to double money.

He said based on the information, the operatives of the FSARS were mobilised to the scene. When the suspects sighted the police, they escaped to avoid arrest. However, two of the gang members, Adeniyi and Fijabi were arrested.

Edgal said that the suspects confessed and took the operatives to their shrine where the exhibits were recovered.

During investigation, it was revealed that the suspects had successfully defrauded one Sunday Adeleke of the sum of N700,000 by false pretence.

CP Edgal said that so far the police have recovered the sum of N300,000 as exhibit while investigation was going on with the view to apprehending the suspects at large for prosecution.

Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison Madueke To Be Extradited From UK

In line with report gathered, former Petroleum Resources Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke is set to be extradited from Britain.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is to approach Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami( SAN) this week with a request to file charges against Mrs Alison-Madueke based on its findings.

As part of its investigation, the EFCC has traced N47.2 billion and $487.5million to the ex-minister, it was gathered.

Besides, about N23,446,300,000 and $5milion (about N1.5billion) have been located in various Nigerian banks.

But only about $37.5million Banana Island property has been finally forfeited by the ex-minister.

Justice Chuka Obiozor of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, ordered the final forfeiture of the property.

According to the information, EFCC has concluded the investigation of the allegations against Mrs Alison-Madueke.

More than 50 suspects in some of the cases linked with her have been arraigned in court, especially the alleged N23.29billion 2015 poll bribe.

The EFCC review team felt it will be “in the interest of justice to extradite the ex-minister to Nigeria for trial”. She is believed to be in Britain.

Some of the investigated allegations against the ex-Minister, with substantial evidence, include the following:

Release of $1.3b NNPC cash to the Office of the national Security Adviser (ONSA) in 2014 to fight kidnapping in Niger Delta;
whereabouts of $18.5billion earnings by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC);
$15.8billion NLNG dividends between 2000 and 2014( especially about $9b component between 2010 and 2015);
$1.7billion oil contracts involving Mrs Alison-Madueke and two business associates;
N23.29b 2015 poll bribery scam;
$37.5m property on Banana Island; and
acquisition of many properties at home, in Britain, and in the UAE

A source said,“The EFCC has reached a convenient bend to request for the extradition of Diezani from the UK. Most of the cases against her have reached maturity level for her trial at home.

“The commission will formally approach the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mallam Abubakar Malami( SAN) to assist it to invoke the extradition treaty between Nigeria and the UK against Diezani.

“Through the office of the AGF, appropriate charges will be filed in court to commence the process for the extradition of the ex-Minister.”

Responding to a question, the source added: “The extradition process is without prejudice to the ongoing investigation of Diezani in the UK.

“The US end of Diezani probe has been done. The EFCC has also hauled evidence to the UK to assist the authorities. Some detectives from the UK have visited this country too.

“For the Nigerian flank of the probe, it is necessary to extradite Diezani to answer allegations against her.”

The source, however, added that the AGF has the final say on whether or not to initiate the extradition process. He stressed that all the allegations against the former minister are within the extradition treaty between Nigeria and the UK.

The laws guiding extradition in Nigeria include:

The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) with extradition matter within the purview of the Federal High Court.

The Extradition Act, Cap E 25, Laws of the Federation, 2010
The Immigration Act, Cap 11, Laws of the Federation, 2010
Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
The Evidence Act, Cap E14, Laws of the Federation, 2010.

Twice, the embattled former minister has defended some of the allegations against her.

On the N23.29m poll bribery cash, she said: “In the face of the obvious falsification of facts and misinformation, it is only right and proper that the EFCC should publish the details of the $153.3million lodgements, the bank account numbers and the account beneficiaries, showing proof of my link to them.

“Having also alleged that the said $153.3million was ‘wired’ from NNPC, the EFCC should also publish details of the NNPC accounts from where the said $153.3 million was taken, with proof that I authorised such a transaction/transactions, acting either in my private capacity or as The Honourable Minister of Petroleum.

“Let me state for the record that as Minister of Petroleum, the operation and management of NNPC finances were outside my purview as outlined in both the Petroleum Act and the NNPC Act.

“The only involvement I had in NNPC finances was in terms of statutory matters, where the Petroleum Act prescribes that as minister, there were certain duties or actions which I had to perform or take in relation to NNPC.”

The ex-Minister said also that she acted on the instructions of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in directing the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to release $1.3billion to the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA).

She said it was not within the power or discretion of any minister to question or disregard the written directive of a president.

Although about $1.4billion was requested by the ONSA via three memos, for “Intervention for Urgent National Security Projects,” about $1.3billion was released from NNPC accounts.

But it was unclear what became of the $100million balance.

Documents revealed that ONSA had requested for $1.4billion between March 27, 2014 and May 5, 2014 when approval was given and cash backed.

About three memos were sent to ex-President Jonathan on March 27, 2014, 31st March 2014 and May 5, 2014.

But Diezani insisted that she could not be held liable for carrying out a presidential directive.

The statement said: “The attention of Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum, has been drawn to a story in The Nation Newspaper of Monday 22nd January, 2018 as well as other print and online media titled “Diezani in trouble again over withdrawal of $1.3b from NNPC accounts”.

“Under Section 5 of the Constitution, all executive powers are vested in the President who may exercise it directly or through the Vice President or Ministers of the Federation. As Minister for Petroleum Resources Mrs. Alison-Madueke was an appointee and delegate of the President.

“Consequently, the Minister of Petroleum Resources acted on the basis of the written approvals and directives given by the President, which approvals were given after written requests from the relevant security agencies were made to the President.

“At such instances, as in fact the article clearly shows, a Service Chief or Intelligence Chief makes a written request/appeal to Mr. President outlining whatever urgent and critical security needs of the nation they consider imminently paramount, at any given point in time.

“If such a request received the approval of the President, the President may direct that the requested funds be drawn from a Security Budget maintained by NNPC, or that the funds be sourced from elsewhere.

“Where the President directs the Minister of Petroleum Resources, in writing, to make the payment from the NNPC, the Minister in turn, directs the GMD NNPC in writing to execute the directive of the President. NNPC then wires the funds from one of its major foreign bank accounts, or from the CBN, directly to the stipulated account of the particular branch of the armed services, or intelligence unit, or department, that initiated the request.

“It is not within the power or discretion of any serving minister to question or disregard the written directive of a president including that of the incumbent President

“The former Minister of Petroleum Resources in the statement stated that at no time, did she, or could she, as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, interfere with this process.”

The ex-Minister said since the disbursement of $1.3billion can be traceable, it was wrong to assume that it was diverted.

“It is, therefore, impossible and implausible, for any monies under such presidential directives to be diverted during the process, at least from the standpoint of the Minister.

“Any and all amounts approved and directed by Mr. President to be paid, were executed exclusively by NNPC, directly from NNPC’s foreign and or, Central Bank of Nigeria accounts, to the stated recipients.

“Therefore, let it be very clear, that all funds disbursed by these banking institutions on behalf of NNPC are easily and openly traceable, and the process cannot and should not be utilized for the distortion of facts.”

A 34-year old man who visited a lady’s apartment at night for s*x has landed in trouble as he was arrested as a suspected criminal and sent to prison in Lagos.

The suspect, Chukwuma Emeghara, was arrested and charged before the court as the complainant, one Gloria Ebele, alleged that he entered into her apartment without her consent and stole her laptop worth N75,000.

The incident happened at Sebanjo Street in Mushin area of Lagos where Gloria resides.

The matter was reported to the Mushin Police Division; Chukwuma was arrested and detained at the police station as a suspect to provide the stolen item.
Source scooped that the suspect at that point had no choice than to open up on his mission in Gloria’s apartment. He reportedly informed the police that he was not a criminal but only went there to have s*x with her.

But he was unable to convince the police on his mission as he admitted that he was not invited by the complainant who claimed that he stole her laptop.
The police found him culpable and charged him before the Isolo Magistrates court for stealing.

He pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector Rita Momah, did not object his bail but asked the court for a date for trial.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Adegbite, granted him bail in the sum if N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 11th December, 2018. When our correspondent contacted Chukwuma, he still denied that he stole the item and maintained that he went there to woo her and not to steal.
