Fresh fuel scarcity looms as Pengassan threaten to shut down. by commyel40(f) : 6:13 pm On Sep 08, 2022

Nigeria may witness yet another fuel scarcity as members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) on Wednesday threatened to pull out its entire workforce from oil and gas installations nationwide in protest of the increasing oil theft and vandalism.

Festus Osifo, the President of PENGASSAN, made the intentions of the association known at a press conference held in Abuja, lamenting that crude oil theft had crumbled the nation’s economy.

He, however, declared that oil workers are ready to withdraw their services if the government pays lip service to their demands of fighting the menace with sincerity and sense of purpose.

According to him, in other climes governments deploy high technology to fight such heinous crimes of sabotage, but upon all the hues and cries and the damage oil theft and pipeline vandalism are doing to the nation’s economy, the Federal Government appears to be helpless.

Osifo, who described the growing incidents of oil theft menace as a real time challenge, urged government to develop the muscle and the political will to chase out oil thieves vandalising the nation’s pipelines.

According to him, some cartels are responsible for the menace and are feeding fat on the nation’s wealth, as well as sabotaging the economy.

The PENGASSAN boss noted that crude oil theft had crumbled the economy and the union could no longer hold its breath, stressing that ‘beginning today across four states in Abuja, Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt, all members of PENGASSAN will embark on rally across strategic locations to sensitise the nation on the dangers and economic losses inherent in crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

He lamented that due to oil theft, Nigeria could no longer meet up with OPEC quota of 1.8 million barrels of crude oil, even as the country is struggling to produce a million barrels, because the products are stolen, while companies are shutting down production.

Osifo said the union had engaged and dialogued with critical stakeholders, agencies of government and service chiefs on how to curb oil theft, stating that despite all meetings, none had yielded the desired result, due to the cartels that are largely feasting on it and crumbling the economy.

To this end, he said the union could not take it anymore, rather than embark on a national rally to sensitise Nigerians on what is going on in the sector and the reason the economy is not growing abysmally.

He said if at the end, no justification for the exercise, the union will pull out the entire workforce in all oil and gas installations across the country, for a total showdown.

According to him, this is the first time crude oil price is hitting the roof of $100 per barrel in the international market.

“This is a menace that is leapfrogging the country. This is the reason Nigeria keeps borrowing to finance the national budget. enough is enough. We have to add our voice to the current struggle. It is not going to be a one-off thing. Companies are shutting down, our members are losing their jobs in services and producing companies.

“The business is that bad now because companies are struggling to sustain the workforce. This is a real crisis that government of the day must develop the muscle and political will to chase out the oil thieves. What is happening is beyond blame game. This is the time to practicalise what we have been saying. The earlier government acts fact, the better for the economy,” he said.

Government train law enforcement agents on sign language. by commyel40(f) : 6:28 pm On Sep 08, 2022

According to the Lagos State government, sign language communication training has been provided for some of its employees, law enforcement agents, and other stakeholders as part of its efforts to promote inclusion in the state.

This was stated by Mr. Oluwadamilare Ogundairo (General Manager, Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs), on Wednesday at the 2022 sign language workshop in Lagos.

He said, “The idea of this training is to make Lagos truly an inclusive mega city that is welcome to all; where everybody can aspire to come and live as long as they can abide by the law. Today, under the THEMES agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos is no longer in competition with any state in Nigeria, we are looking at global standards and if we must get there, it must be inclusive for all.

“In Nigeria today, we have to take the issue of people with disability very seriously and it is a critical component of governance and sustainable development and the right way to go. In Lagos, we have to keep doing this so that MDAs and people like law enforcement agents and parastatals that deal with the public are equipped to be able to adequately communicate with people with disability in Lagos State. Most of the countries we are trying to compete with have scaled those things we are still grappling with for more than 30 to 50 years ago.”

Ogundairo added that the agency had also trained workers in the financial sector in sign language.

“If banking officials can communicate with their significant population and we promise to further its engagement with other sectors,” he said.

Resolve lingering strike,C&S leader Begs FG,ASSU. by commyel40(f) : 10:44 pm On Sep 08, 2022

David Bob-Manuel (Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim, and Seraphim Church Worldwide) has urged the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to resolve the lingering strike with urgency.
Bob-Manuel called the press conference on Wednesday to mark his fifth induction in the Surulere region of Lagos State.

In his address, the leader stated that the strike was a major obstacle to the development of human capital. He also said that certificates from tertiary institutions were of no or little value.

He stated, "Aside from insecurity and the ongoing strike of ASUU, it is one the most pressing issues in Nigeria." ASUU has been striking since February, more than six months ago. These prolonged interruptions to university education are detrimental to the development of human capital. Certificates from tertiary institutions are of no or little value.

"Public universities, which were the delight of all parents, have been brought to their lowest ebb. The advancement of quality education is the bedrock of technological development for any country. It should be unacceptable for any country to allow its youths to be out of school for so long, roaming the streets and subjected to the whims of life.

“I hereby urge the Federal Government, ASUU, and all stakeholders in the educational sector to resolve the lingering strike with the urgency it demands to save this sector from total collapse. The effect of immediate resolution will positively resonate in the education sector and enhance quality learning. Let the future leaders of this country go back to school.”

Bob-Manuel urged Nigerians to prayerfully choose their leaders in the forthcoming general elections.

Upon their abduction last Friday September 2, 2022, families of the victims reportedly gathered funds, to the tune of N5 million, demanded by the bandits.

“The command is aware that all the victims have been released, but I am not aware that anyone was killed or that any ransom was paid”, he said, adding that the command was working to secure the state including worship centres.

He noted that the incident at Zugu happened because it is an outskirt area of the state with fewer inhabitants.

The police added that the major issue encountered in the state is that of Informants revealing relevant security information to the assailants.

Pulse observed that Bakura, Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of state have recently been terrorized by bandits, who kill and kidnap residents of the area.

Meanwhile, the state government said it had dialogues with the nine bandits’ camps in Magami, Dansadau Emirate in Gusau and Maru Local Government Areas of the state.

Full of grace by commyel40(f) : 12:17 am On Sep 10, 2022

Our posture can do much more to enhance or deform our appearance than any dress can never do.
Grace is more beautiful than beauty, says Ralph Emerson.
Visual poise and merticulous cleanliness make up our grace and beauty. A well-figure and beautiful clothes will not give you the grace of good posture.
Youngsters are often advised to 'stand straight' and 'put your shoulders back'. Such stiff and artificial posture takes away our bodily grace.
Stand as you ordinarily do. Hold the chest and head high, and do not worry about the shoulders. Hold the stomach muscles I n and keep the knees relaxed.
When you sit, bend and use the knees to lower yourself into the chair gracefully, do not fall into it. Allow the stomach muscles protrude and let the chest cave in. Sit back comfortably in the chair. Do not put your legs and feet around the rungs of the chair.
While sitting on a chair, it is not proper to keep the legs dangling in mid air. Rest them on the ground--heels and toes. One should be careful not to keep the legs far apart. Let your hands rest gently on your lap.
When you walk, keep the toes pointing straight ahead. Hold your head erect, chest high and stomach in See that your steps originate where is he legs join the hips, and walk in a nearly straight line. Carry yourself beautifully.

How to correct four beauty mistakes. by commyel40(f) : 12:24 am On Sep 10, 2022

Dressed Up
We all believe that spraying perfume over our clothes is the right thing to do and will probably make it last longer, but in reality, fabric fibers can make perfume smell unpleasant, and perfume can stain fabrics.

Terry Molnar, executive director of the Sense of Smell Institute, in New York City says “Fragrance is formulated to be applied to the skin where it interacts with the heat of the body.” Lastly: Don’t rub your wrists together after spraying—this breaks down a scent’s molecular structure.

The fix: Before getting dressed, lightly dab or spray perfume directly onto the skin places such as the knees, wrists, base of the throat, and behind the earlobes.

Mistake #2: Showering Until Your Body Feels Clean
This may seem weird but, either by staying too long in the shower or bath or by scrubbing too vigorously; you’ve removed the natural oils and lipids that seal in moisture and protect your skin.

The fix: Try to limit your shower or bath time to 10 minutes max, and use warm not hot water.

Mistake #3: Using Conditioner All Over Your Hair
A lot of people apply conditioner like it’s shampoo: by starting at the top of the head and throughout their hair. However, the ends of the hair are usually damaged and in need of condition, whereas the hair closest to the roots is healthy new growth. Conditioning the roots can weigh your hair down.

The fix: Starting at your ears, apply conditioner all the way to the ends of your hair. You’ll gain volume, condition tired ends, and avoid needing to wash your hair as often.
Mistake #4: Neglecting Your Neck
Don’t stop your skin care routine at the chin. The skin on your neck can be thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your face and just as prone to changes in pigment, elasticity, texture, and wrinkles.

The fix: When applying lotion, sunscreen or facials to your face, keep going to cover your neck and chest. (Spread some on the backs of your hands too, that’s another vulnerable area.)

I promise mum women won't distract me. by commyel40(f) : 6:56 pm On Sep 11, 2022

Gideon Nwawo, aka Giddyfia A, recently evicted Big Brother Naija's housemate has said that before going on the show, he promised his mum that he would not let women distract him.

He told Sunday Scoop, “I and Diana connected from the first day in the house and she kept offering me drinks, so I thought to myself, ‘I promised my mother I would not concentrate on women’. She had said I should go there and make her proud.”

Speaking about his relationship with Diana and Amaka in the house, Giddyfia noted that when Diana introduced Amaka to him, he did not know there was more to it. He said, “When we entered the house, everyone formed bonds with their roommates. I thought Diana was just introducing Amaka to me, so I could know her friend. It was later on that she pushed me to Amaka. During one of our Saturday parties, she told me to talk to Amaka and get to know her. Later, housemates started approaching me to ask if I was the Giddyfia that Amaka was always talking about.”

On the status of his relationship with the duo, Giddyfia noted that he won’t be having a relationship with Amaka. As regards Diana, he said, “When we got out of the house, we talked properly. We do not want to skip the friendship stage.”

Asked about his future plans, Giddyfia said, “Big Brother has given me the best platform to get a boost in the entertainment industry. I will concentrate fully on entertainment and take my hosting career more seriously. I also love public relations and talent management.”

Bihari doesn't love Nigeria as I do, sheilk Gumi. by commyel40(f) : 11:23 pm On Sep 11, 2022

Gumi stated that many Nigerians had called for his arrest because he helped negotiate with bandits, but Gumi personally took up the task of 'calming down the bandits' so that peace might reign because he loves Nigeria more than the president.

"As a nation, we cannot fold our arms and do nothing. Because I was a security officer myself, I was familiar with these security operations. They operate in a way that I understand and I am aware of their plot. Sardauna wasn't immune to their conspiracy, as was Murtala, Maimalari and IBB, and even Buhari. All of them were victims of their conspiracy.

“Recently, Malam Goni too fell in their conspiracy; when some young soldiers killed him. So who is proud of them? I decided to get involved in this issue to assist in stabilizing the country to be in peace. Let me tell you even the president doesn’t love this country the way I do because I have no other country than Nigeria.

“I want this country to be in peace, which is why I risked my life to go into the forest to find a solution to insecurity. But some people don’t want that to happen. They are not interested in finding a solution to the problem because they realized I was serious about it, they decided to be calling me all sorts of names, linking me with terrorism.

“What annoyed them was when I said those people deserved basic amenities like hospitals, schools just like what was done to Niger Delta Militants. That led to insults.”

Police recovered the SUV abducted Akwa Ibom Principal. by commyel40(f) : 11:33 pm On Sep 11, 2022

The state police have recovered the Sport Utility Vehicle belonging to Mr. Monday Ekoriko who was abducted as Principal of Madonna Community Secondary Schools in Oruk Anam Local Gov Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Ekoriko was kidnapped at his country home in Udianga Enem, Etim Ekpo LGA, last Saturday while he attended a service at the United Evangelical Church he founded in the community. They have demanded a N50m ransom.

Speaking to newsmen, the kidnap victim's eldest son, Menyene said;

“They (the hoodlums) called me on the phone and the number was hidden. They told us to arrange N50m before my father could be released. The discussion was so brief and sharp with a threat that some people have paid for my father to be killed, that only a higher amount would save him.’’

Menyene further revealed that his father’s Lexus SUV which the kidnappers used in whisking him away had been recovered after it was abandoned at the Ekparakwa axis of Oruk Anam LGA.

Confirming that the Principal's SUV has been recovered, the state police command spokesperson, Odiko Macedon said;

“We can confirm the recovery of the car. The police have nothing to do with ransom, but I can assure you that soon the hoodlums will be apprehended and brought to justice because the Commissioner of Police, Olatoye Durosinmi, who is personally directing the operation, has zero tolerance for crimes.’’
