Over the recent abduction of the Spouse of the Chairman of the State's House of Assembly Committee on Information, Mrs Nseobong Nelson Ofem, there is a great anxiety in Cross River state.

Mrs Ofem was abducted on Thursday evening by suspected kidnappers from the creek

A source told newsmen that the woman who drove in her husband's SUV to Ikot Ishie to visit her mother, was abducted

"As she was about to step into her car, she was pressured by the kidnappers into a Vehicle into a car which they parked behind her own. Those who escorted her to the car raised alarm but the boys sped off with her to an unknown destination,” he said.

Based on him, the hoodlums later contacted her husband to announce that they were with his wife but did not demand for a ransom.

Irene Ugbo, the Cross River Police Command spokesperson said the police were informed of the abduction soon after the incident.

“We blocked all the exit points from the city but could not get them”, she said, expressing confidence that the hoodlums would be tracked in order to effect the woman’s release.
