Ogaga Kome, a 26-year-old man, was finally arrested in connection to the alleged murder of Hossanna Merritt (11-year-old) in Delta state.

Kome is alleged to have shot Merrit while he was testing a gun made locally at his Ozoro home on August 22, 2022.

After the incident, he went into hiding. However, members of the community alerted the Ozoro police station.

After the incident was reported, the Delta police command declared Kome wanted and launched a manhunt.

On Thursday, September 1, DSP Bright Edafe, the state Police Public Relations Officer said Kome was handed over by his relative to the police. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Edafe said;

“On August 30, 2022, around 1.05 pm, a well-meaning individual, who is also a relative of the suspect, brought him to the station.

“Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ari Ali, has expressed appreciation for the efforts of residents in the state for their support in combating crime.

“The CP also advised members of the public to monitor their environment, and report any suspicious persons or movements to the police.”
