Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi (New Nigerian Peoples Party), was arrested in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. They were accused of megabank fraud. She has since been transferred to Lagos.

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for the EFCC, released a statement stating Atumeyi was one of the suspects flown to Lagos as part of a continuing investigation into the fraud.

Uwujaren claimed that Atumeyi would be interrogated by another team of operatives at the Lagos Command of the Commission.

The EFCC arrested Atumeyi along with Joshua Dominic and Abdulmalik Salau Femi who were former employees of a bank. They are accused of hacking into a commercial bank's system and defrauding it of more than N1.4 billion.

The EFCC had in a statement on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, disclosed that it recovered ?326million and $140,500 USD from Atumeyi during a sting operation at his hideout in Queens Estate, Gwarinpa, Abuja, while $470,000 was recovered from Abdulmalik in Lagos.
