Operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command have arrested Buhari Iliya (20) for destroying school electricity cables.

CSC Adamu Shehu (spokesman for the corps), disclosed the information in a statement Monday, June 20, 2020. He said that the suspect vandalized and stole 318.6 meter of electricity cables to supply electricity to Kanya Babba, Government Science Secondary School Kanya Babba.

The statement stated that one BUHARI ILIYA 'M', aged 20, of Giginya Village in Babura LGA of Jigawa State, was taken into custody by the operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. It is suspected of being guilty of VANDALISATION, which is a violation of Section 1 subsection 9 of the Miscellaneous Offenses Act and is punishable under the same."

"The suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday 7th June 2022 around 0400hrs. He went to Government Science Secondary school Kanya Babba and vandalized 318.6m of electrical cables that supply electricity to the School Administration Block. The School Watchmen noticed unusual movements from the ceiling and decided to arrest him.

"He admitted to having committed the same offense thrice at the same school. Further investigations led to the arrest and detention of Nasiru Shuaibu "M" aged 22 from Kirya Village in Babura LGA. He used to purchase the stolen goods directly from the suspect.

He also confessed that he bought the stolen Electric cables for N6,500, which is far below its market value. After an extensive investigation, both men confessed to the crime. They will be brought before a court of competent jurisdiction.
