How To Stay Productive In Quarantine by emmatopher006(f) : 7:45 pm On Apr 26, 2020

So you're stuck at home? Doesn't mean you can put all those extra free time into use and make the most out of it. Infact, this is the perfect time to catch up on all work you've kept away for so long. So without further ado, here are some tips to help you stay organised and super productive during this quarantine period.

Start your day early.

Starting your day early is without surprise, the first step to a super productive day. It can be very easy to just lay in bed after waking up thinking about a lot of things and worrying (about the current situations), but it's important to push yourself to stand up and start your day. The earlier you get to work, the earlier you will finish.
The early bird eats the fattest worm.

Set daily agendas.

What better way to stay productive and achieve a lot than knowing exactly what to do? Writing down what you wish to accomplish everyday gives you a specific layout of the tasks ahead of you. Setting agendas really help to say organised and organisation is key to productivity so try writing down all the things you have to accomplish daily and trust me, it is really going to help. Be flexible with your daily schedule though, it is important to make changes where need may arise for instance, if you're taking an online class (Due to the current world condition), your teacher may give more assignments than usual or if it may rain and interrupt your usual evening hike so be sure to leave room for adjustments.

Listen to music.

Music is a good way to awaken your brain. It can also improves one's mood significantly. Listening to good music (Classical, soft pop, reggae or instrumentals without lyrics) has also been proven to enhance focus and aid memory.
So get your headset, earphones or music box and play some good music while you do some work.

Eat breakfast.

Every health expert will tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast will not only help you stay energised throughout the day, but will also improve your mood and help your body to kickstart it's daily activities without stress or fatigue.

Sleep

Sleep is very important to every human being. The human body requires about 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily. Lack of sleep can lead to release of the stress hormone called cortisol which has harmful effects on your health. The best time to sleep is between 9pm and 11pm and the best time to wake up is from 4am to 6am. However, this can vary from person to person.
It is important to have adequate sleep every night as this will make you feel energised and refreshed as opposed to having little or no sleep that may lead to fatigue and thereby low productivity.

Have an early bath.

Did you know that taking a shower early makes you twice as productive for the entire day? An article from https://showerhacks.com/cold-shower-morning-can-improve-productivity/ says that having a cold shower in the morning can help reduce stress, improve mental and physical health, increase alertness and help build strong will power for the rest of the day.
Best time for showering is from 6am (or earlier) to 8am.

Exercise.

Excersing does not only help you to stay healthy and fit, it also improves mental health and focus. Exercising releases a hormone called dopamine (exact opposite of cortisol) that can instantly improve your mood which will resultantly lead to increased productivity.
You don't have to go to the gym to exercise. A brisk walk in the morning, cycling or hiking can go a long way. You can also try doing at home exercises that are beginner friendly such as jump roping, dancing and yoga.

Take a break.

You need it. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of work load waiting for you on your table but sometimes you just need a break. Abandon all your homeworks for a while, forget about the essays and math and geography and just chill out. You can relax for a day or two (If you can afford it). Watch your favourite movie, play your favourite game or just lie in bed all day cuddled up in the comfort of your blankets, no one is going to judge you, we all deserve a break. Also, taking a break is going to make you look forward to catching up on all the work load after so you'll be super productive once you're fully refreshed.

Don't take on too much at a time.
As much as you may want to be productive and make the most use out of all these free time, do not get carried away or overwhelmed with how much you want to accomplish. Don't take on too much at a time. Sometimes, it's best to stick to a fewer things and do them well than taking on too much a time and then doing them not-so-well. If you feel like you can't handle all of your online classes, then it's best to cut off the less important ones and take only the compulsory ones. Do not get burned out trying to be a Jack of all trades.
