Sikiru Okulaja Arraigned In Court After Stabbing A 38-Year-Old Man To Death In Lagos

Seventeen-year-old Sikiru Okulaja, That allegedly stabbed a 38-year-old man to death, on Friday has been arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos.

Okulaja was charged with murder case but the court failed to take his plea.

The prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione, advised the court that the teenager stabbed Mr Mutiu Yekini with knife on April 22, in 7.00p.m, at Agura, Ikorodu, Lagos.

Uwadione explained that the accused stabbed Yekini on the chest and he died as a consequence of the wound.

Murder contravenes Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, which prescribes death sentence for the offence.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, ordered that Okulaja should be remanded at the Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun.

She ordered that the case file should be duplicated and forwarded to the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The chief magistrate adjourned the case until 21st , June 2018.
