Two policemen were murdered by a group of gunmen who invaded a police station at Gegu region of Kogi State about 2:15 am on Tuesday.

The gunmen who came on a motorbike heavily armed with AK 47 rifles opened fire as they were approaching the police station, they afterwards went to the station killing the two policemen on duty and also taken a defendant in detention.

According to reports, the bandits then raided the station armory for firearms and ammunition.

They moved off with the firearms belonging to the deceased policemen, it had been assembled.

It was learnt that shortage of power in the region assisted the bandits to function for approximately 30 minutes without any interruption.

An analysis had begun on the assault, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Williams Ayah.
