Senator Dino Melaye Declared Wanted By Police

We reported few days ago how a Senator representing Kogi West has been called by the authorities for illegal possession of firearms supplied to suspected robbers.

Two suspects before paraded from the authorities for illegal possession of guns supposedly supplied by Senator Dino Melaye have escaped from custody.

As the senator was declared wanted alongside Mohammed Audu, son of a former governor of the state, Abubakar Audu.

The suspects were arrested by the Kogi State Police Command in Lokoja, while investigations into their allegations continue.

Commissioner of Police at the state, Ali Janga, who confirmed the jailbreak, said the suspects and four others escaped from custody at the early hours of today.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, on March 19 stated the suspects had been part of an armed gang terrorising residents of the state.

Moshood said the suspects were arrested with a cache of arms which they claimed had been supplied to them by Senator Melaye, the lawmaker representing Kogi West.

Police said Melaye and Audu have also been placed on Interpol watchlist for allegedly providing false information to the police in relation to an alleged attempt on Melaye’s life last year.
