Ekiti state university undergraduate student who is a suspected on-line fraudster has been arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Ibadan Zonal Office for alleged Internet fraud.

Ilesanmi Babatunde Yemi, 31, who is a final year Accounting student of the University poses on-line as an American Army Officer by the name Dennis Martinez supposedly serving in Libya was engaged in Internet love and romance scams.

He engages unsuspecting women on-line in a relationship and love scam during which he fleeces them of their money.

Last of his victims were the duo of Sandra Simundza and Lily F, both in Australia, from whom he claimed to have got about Five hundred dollars in tranches.

Babatunde, based on series of intelligence gathered by the Commission, supposedly lives an ostentatious life with no certain job.

He confessed to have been participated actively in on-line romance scam in the previous four years from which he sustained his flamboyant lifestyle and purchased himself a 2005 Lexus car with registration number Lagos MUS 404 DX.

Being a part-time student, he also confessed to have spent all his time around the relationship websites, especially tinder and okculpid from which he meets his or her victims.

Operatives have recovered several items. They include: One notebook Apple macbook Pro, three ATM cards, one iphone 6 x also, one Nokia phone and one international Passport. Several love scam emails were discovered and downloaded from his notebooks.

The defendant will be arraigned in court soon.
