Nigerian actress Habibat Jinad revealed how her senior counterpart Mide Martins pressured her into skin bleaching during a recent interview with Biola Bayo on the talk show Talk To B.

Jinad recounted an incident on the set of a movie directed by Afeez Owo, Martins' husband, where she was reprimanded alongside other colleagues for a mistake made by someone else.

She recounted how Martins publicly criticized her skin tone, likening her complexion to that of a monkey, which deeply upset her.

Jinad admitted that this incident drove her to consider bleaching her skin, ultimately leading her to undergo the process in 2012. Reflecting on the ordeal,

Jinad stated, "During a rehearsal on Afeez Owo's set, an incident occurred where a colleague of mine made a mistake, and despite not being involved, we were all penalized. Mide Martins was present, and in front of everyone, she compared my skin to that of a monkey."

“And it got to me. She even complained about my skin, saying I was too dark and this made me contemplate bleaching my skin to please her and others”.
