Media figure Toke Makinwa has disclosed the rationale behind her decision to wake up one day and tear up all her prayer requests to God.

Despite her unwavering belief in God's existence, Toke expressed her profound concerns regarding the prevalence of suffering in the world on the microblogging platform X.

She posed several questions about the direction of life that she simply cannot grasp. The radio personality revealed that she tore up her prayer requests after awakening because those who experience tragedy are not enemies of God.

In her opinion, God owes no one anything as good and bad happen to all.

In her words: “I know God is real but I struggle to understand why there is so much pain in the world, why good people die, why death has to be so excruciating, why does it seem like when you’re about to enjoy life, something goes wrong? Why do kids/young people die? Why were they born sef?

“Today I woke up and tore up all my prayer requests, cos the people that have tragedy befall them are not God’s enemies. I have realized he owes us nothing. Good and bad happens to all. Just do your own bit and relax, life has already been programmed to happen how it will.”
