Australian authorities are looking into an accusation made by a paparazzo claiming that Taylor Swift's father assaulted him.

Ben McDonald, aged 51, alleged that Scott Swift, aged 71, struck him in the face while on a Sydney wharf. McDonald did not require medical assistance.

The incident occurred on Tuesday after Mr. Swift and the popular singer disembarked from a yacht.

A representative for the singer did not directly address the accusation of assault but mentioned that two individuals had acted aggressively towards them.

Footage released by Australian media depicts the singer, shielded under an umbrella, walking with her father and security personnel along Neutral Bay Wharf at around 02:30 local time (15:30 GMT Monday).

In the video, camera flashes are seen before two voices, reportedly a photographer and a guard, accuse each other of interfering with umbrellas. It remains unclear whether the alleged incident was captured on camera.

Mr. McDonald informed the BBC that the singer had already entered a vehicle when Mr. Swift "charged in" and assaulted him.

"I've been doing this for 23 years, and I haven't been in a situation where someone's hit me in the chops," he stated, asserting that he had not provoked the altercation.

The singer's representative said: "Two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water."

Swift had just performed the final Australian concert in her immensely popular Eras tour.

"The younger man reported the incident and inquiries are now underway by officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command," New South Wales Police said in a statement.
