A 15-year renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA) between global energy developer Ørsted and Bloomberg aims to supply 80MW of energy produced by Ørsted’s Texas-based Mockingbird Solar Center Project.

As part of its global corporate program RE100, Bloomberg has pledged to get all of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025.

Bloomberg anticipates using renewable energy to supply 80% of its electricity globally and all of its electricity in the United States under the terms of the new deal.

Early in 2023, Ørsted declared its final investment decision to move forward with the 4,900-acre Mockingbird project, which is anticipated to provide enough renewable energy yearly to power over 80,000 homes.

Additionally, through a 1,000-acre preservation partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the project is the first by Ørsted to combine conservation activities with the protection of natural tallgrass prairie.

The Mockingbird project is now completely contracted thanks to the PPA with Bloomberg, further agreements have been made with businesses like Covestro and Royal DSM.

Bloomberg and Ørsted agreement is a step in the right direction.
