Starbucks to open two more coffee outlets in India by sundaysamuel381(m) : 5:00 pm On Jan 09 |
Starbucks intends to open 1,000 outlets in India by 2028, adding a new site every three days for the following four years as a result of the country’s rapid growth as a major economy and coffee sonsumption. Starbucks plans to expand its personnel to 8,600 and concentrate on building coffee shops in smaller cities. Currently, the company has a 50% joint venture with Tata Consumer Products to run 390 locations in India. The company sells “Indian-inspired” drinks, such as masala chai and filter coffee from Southern part of India. With a burgeoning middle class that is becoming an important market for Western businesses, India has emerged as one of Starbucks’ fastest-growing global markets. The company hopes to have 9,000 locations in China by 2025, up from about 6,500 at the moment, despite the country’s current slump. With its $200 million investment in a new campus in China last year, Starbucks made the biggest investment for a coffee manufacturing and distribution facility outside of the United States. |
