Fireboy DML, the renowned Nigerian singer also known as Adedamola Adefolahan, has articulated the rationale behind the infrequency of local tours by him and other Nigerian artists within their own country, despite their global success in filling stadiums worldwide.

The artist behind the hit song "Peru" stated that although Nigerian music is exceptional, the absence of a structured framework poses a challenge for organizing music tours within the country.

In a conversation with OAP Dotun on Cool FM Lagos, the former YBNL star shared his vision of a future where music enthusiasts would journey from various parts of the world to Lagos, Nigeria, to partake in concerts.

Fireboy said;

“Everyone is saying ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ The music is perfect. But there is no structure. They [foreign] fans are listening [to our music] but when are they going to come to Lagos and watch us perform?

When are we going to have arenas in Lagos where we can bring people from all around the world? You know, it [structure] will make everything just easier.”

Speaking on whether he thinks Nigerian fans can afford to pay for arena shows, he said;

“Yeah, they will. We already are. We just need to give people the incentive to pay. If you build a proper arena in Lagos, people would want to pay [gate fees] because they know that they are safe”.
