The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has seen 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly leave, joining the All Progressive Congress (APC).

There might be a connection between this and the state’s ongoing political unrest.

Following the October 29th fire of the Rivers State Assembly Complex, the crisis became well known.

In response, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara was charged by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike of masterminding the destruction of a portion of the State House Assembly building through arson.

Some legislators in the State House of Assembly had started the impeachment process against Governor Fubara as a result of a dispute among themselves.

However, President Bola Tinubu involvement caused this move to be stopped.

According to one of the assembly member, who claims that Monday’s meeting was when they decided to switch to APC.
