McDonald's security guard soaks homeless man's sleeping bag by atoluwash(m) : 3:45 am On Dec 11, 2023 |
A security guard at McDonald's in London, while mopping the street, drenched the area where a homeless man was seated. In a video capturing the incident on Victoria Street last Saturday, the worker was seen kicking the man's belongings away and signaling for him to relocate. McDonald's responded by stating that they have permanently removed the "third party security guards" involved. The footage circulating on social media depicted the security guard wetting the pavement where the homeless man had been sitting with his sleeping bag outside a Nationwide bank branch adjacent to McDonald's. The rough sleeper, in the video, can be heard saying "leave me alone," while one security guard kicked his blanket aside and splashed more water on the pavement. Another security guard tried to prevent a bystander from recording the incident. Witnesses, including Damon Evans, who recorded the video, condemned the situation as "outrageous behavior," labeling it "disgusting" and "bang out of order." A spokesperson for McDonald's said they were "shocked and saddened by this incident". They added: "The restaurant team has been reminded of the importance of treating all people with respect including vulnerable people both in the restaurant and within the wider community. "We would like to wholeheartedly apologise to the gentleman in the video and will work with the council to locate him and make amends, as part of our continued support for homelessness charities and organisations across London." |
