Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has carried out a significant government restructuring in the West African nation. According to reports, he has relieved Prime Minister Patrick Achi and disbanded the entire government.

This action was taken through a presidential decree, as President Ouattara exercised his constitutional authority, as stated by Abdourahmane Cissé, the secretary-general of the presidency.

Ivory Coast, which is gearing up for an election in 2025, has witnessed three changes in prime ministers since 2020. Patrick Achi assumed the role after the passing of Hamed Bakayoko in March 2021 due to cancer. Bakayoko's predecessor also met the same fate, succumbing to illness while in office.

“The president expresses his gratitude to Prime Minister Patrick Achi and to all members of the government for their commitment to serving the nation over the past years,” Cissé said. The outgoing officials will continue to function until later this month when a new government will be set up, he said.
