Adebayo Salami has been registered as a household name in Nollywood, he hailed from Kwara State and was born on 9 May 1953 in Lagos State where he had both primary and secondary education.
He began his acting career in 1964 with a group called Young Concert Party, under the leadership of Ojo Ladipo, popularly called Baba Mero.

After few years, the team changed its name to Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group, and after metamorphosed into Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group following the demise of Ojo Ladipo in 1978, Salami chose the mantle of leadership of this team, which brought him to the limelight.
He featured  in the initial Yoruba film, Ajani Ogun, in which the late Adeyemi Afolayan, the daddy of Kunle Afolayan and Gabriel Afolayan, plays the lead character.
He also featured in a movie titled Kadara by Adeyemi Afolayan (Ade love). He later featured in the popular Nigerian humor series Comedy half an hour together with the point name Oga Bello.
He produced his first movie, Ogun Ajaye, in 1985, by the stable of Awada Kerikeri.
Since 1985, he's produced, directed and featured in several Yoruba films.

Adebayo Salami is one of the Nollywood’s most famous and well-respected actor, most people call him, Oga Bello. And you have probably heard that he has quite a large family: at least two wives and about 18 known children.

Having been among the earliest Yoruba celebrities in Nigeria, Adebayo Salami, has had a remarkable career. He's over 50 years at the filmmaking business and has been in over 70 films.
