Reality TV personality and entrepreneur, Natacha Akide, widely recognized as Tacha, has voiced her criticism towards the Headies organizers for holding their award ceremony in the United States for two consecutive years.

Tacha, known for her stint on Big Brother Naija, shared a video in which she acknowledged the rationale behind last year's choice of the United States, given the rising popularity of Afrobeats in the country.

Nonetheless, she expressed her dissatisfaction with the decision to once again host the award show in the United States, considering it as a lack of respect for Nigerians.

Drawing a parallel with the American BET Awards, Tacha pointed out that such an award ceremony could never be held in Africa. She also recounted instances when African artists received their award plaques backstage at the BET Awards instead of on the main stage.

Expanding on her point, the 27-year-old influencer asserted that the choice to host the Headies Awards in the United States reflects a "colonial mentality." Tacha's statement has sparked discussions on social media, with many individuals expressing their agreement with her perspective.
