Rudy Giuliani, a close associate of Donald Trump for an extended period, along with six others accused of being involved in the same activities, have entered pleas of not guilty to state charges in Georgia. Mr. Giuliani faces 13 charges linked to his alleged efforts to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election in the state.

They have followed Mr. Trump and several other co-defendants in making these not guilty pleas, and they have opted not to attend an upcoming in-person hearing, instead relying on legal representation.

All 19 individuals involved have been granted release on bail until their trial after posting a bond. Additionally, the judge overseeing Mr. Trump's case has announced that the trial proceedings will be available for streaming on YouTube.

Although a specific trial date has not yet been established, it may potentially take place next year, coinciding with the former president's campaign for re-election.

The next court appearance is set for Wednesday, which is an arraignment—a brief hearing where the plea is officially recorded in court. Mr. Trump and the others accused of being co-conspirators briefly visited Atlanta last week to surrender themselves at Fulton County Jail, where their mugshots were taken.

All 19 defendants involved in the case, including Mr. Trump, are facing charges related to the violation of Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, commonly referred to as the Rico Act.

These Rico laws are utilized across the United States, both at the state and federal levels, to aid prosecutors in establishing connections between individuals who committed unlawful acts and those who issued orders or organized the criminal activities.
Mr Giuliani, after surrendering to authorities in Georgia last week, stood outside the jail and called the prosecution "a travesty".

"I am very, very honoured to be involved in this case, because this case is a fight for our way of life," he said.

Other suspects who have entered not guilty pleas include Ken Chesebro; the alleged architect of the fake electors scheme who has petitioned the court for a speedy trial; and lawyers Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis.
