Reports from Russian media reveal that a tour guide and their entire group of seven individuals tragically lost their lives due to flooding while trapped in Moscow's sewer system.

The rapid floods, caused by heavy rainfall, left no opportunity for escape. The group was exploring the underground Neglinka, a tributary of Moscow's main river, the Moskva.

The search operation has concluded, and authorities are working to formally identify the deceased. Moscow's Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, has labeled the incident a "terrible tragedy."

Numerous companies provide guided tours of the city's historic sewer system, some dating back to the 19th Century. Many of the victims were carried into the Moskva River and were located by divers close to the central Zaryadye Park.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident, categorizing it as an "illegal excursion." Allegations of disregarding safety standards have surfaced.

Investigators have identified three individuals responsible for organizing the tour; one has been arrested and charged, while another is believed to have left the country for the United Arab Emirates.

Originally more than 20 people signed up for the tour, the Ria news agency said, although most of them later withdrew because of the weather forecast.
