In three communities in Bayelsa State, a total of nine illegal refinery sites have been discovered, with a combined total daily production estimated to be over one million barrels per day (bpd).

Security personnel engaged in a “war” against crude oil theft and illegal refineries in the Niger Delta region discovered the illegal refineries.

The Bayelsa State border communities of Ibelebiri and Otuege(Agba), as well as the illegal refineries known locally as “Kpofire” in Okordia, Zarama, and Biseni in Yenagoa Local Government Area, were all discovered.

When speaking to reporters at the scene of one of the busted illegal refineries, which was located 8 kilometers inside the swamp forest of the Zarama Clan, Comrade Okardi Yogo, the spokesman and mobilization officer for Daven Oil and Security Enterprises, confirmed the development.

He claimed that so far, the operation has revealed nine sites.
