Ifechukwu Makwe, a fictitious agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was arrested on Monday, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. He is accused of defrauding a Spaniard of €5.7 million.

Makwe allegedly conned the Spaniard using multiple aliases, according to a statement from the head of media and publicity, Wilson Uwujaren. He also claimed that Makwe was apprehended in Abuja’s Guzape neighborhood as a result of reliable information about his fraudulent online activities.

According to the statement, the suspect, who went by the aliases Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, and Dr. Bran, “defrauded a Spaniard of €5.7 million upon arrest,”

The statement went on to say that Makwe allegedly used false identities to defraud his victim, claiming to be a US Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and a diplomatic solicitor.

The statement continued, “The suspect allegedly began defrauding the victim in 2013 when he first met her on social media.

As soon as the investigations were finished, according to Uwujaren, the suspect would be charged in court.
