Mohammed Abubakar, a 25-year-old cattle farmer from Ilrin, the seat of Kwara State, was charged with causing bodily harm to Mohammed Aisha over s*x at a magistrate court there.
He was brought before the court on two counts of causing great harm and trying to kill someone.

Sections 246 and 299 of the Kwara state penal code were violated by the offenses.

The Medical Director of the General Hospital in Lafiagi, Dr. S.K. Suleiman, reportedly reported the case to the police at Lafiagi Police Station.

According to the charge sheet’s citation of Dr. Suleiman, “The victim was brought for treatment where she narrated that she went to the bush with her two sisters Hassana and Adishetu in search of Shea butter.

The victim suffered a deep cut to her head as a result of the suspect, a Fulani, attacking them, the sheet continued.

The suspect demanded s*x with the victim and her two younger sisters, but they refused and fled for safety, the police said in a statement to the court.

However, as he pursued them, the suspect was seriously injured on the head.

Ayeni Gbenga, the police prosecutor, urged the court not to grant the accused person bail because the investigation into the case was not yet complete.

Magistrate Gbadeyan Kamson made a decision and set the suspect’s remand date for July 10th, 2023.
