A 25-year-old man has been detained by the Jigawa State Police Command in connection with an alleged armed robbery case.

Ibrahim Abubakar, a resident of Malamawa Village in the Dutse Local Government Area, was arrested on June 18, 2023 at 6 p.m. as a result of information gathered by agents with the Kiyawa Division.

Abubakar is suspected of being a member of a syndicate terrorizing the Shuwarin-Kiyawa axis, according to a statement made by the command’s public relations officer, DSP Lawan Adam, on Wednesday in Dutse.

According to the statement, “One Ibrahim Abubakar’m’ 29, of Nafada LGA, Gombe State, reported at Kiyawa Police station that on January 20, 2023, at 2100 hrs, while he was traveling from Kano to Gombe State, hoodlums dressed in army uniform with guns and cutlasses blocked Shuwarin to Andaza road and robbed him of the sum of N25,000 and seven GSM Android Handsets valued at N609,000.”

DSP Shiisu added that “effort is in top gear to arrest the remaining gang members, and upon completion of the investigation, the suspect will be charged in court” and that “the suspect is strongly suspected to be among the syndicate terrorizing the Shuwarin-Kiyawa axis.”

In a related development, the PPRO noted that on June 20, 2023, at 4:40 pm, a fictitious Mobile Police Corporal named Usman Khalil, 25, of Kano State, was also detained.

Khalil was detained in connection with the Police Mobile associated with 35PMF Dutse Jigawa State’s alleged case of impersonation.

He insisted that before his arrest, Kano State resident Khalil went to one Bako Aliyu in mechanic village wearing a police uniform and purchased some food items for N4,300.

The suspect allegedly took another N5,000, for a total of N9,300, and promised to reimburse him as soon as he fixed his salary account.

“Aliyu Bako further alleged that the suspect occasionally brings a gun and wears a police uniform when visiting his shop.

The PPRO continued, “The suspect and exhibits were transferred to SCID Jigawa for a covert investigation.
