Around 18 female jail guards were fired after having an affair with inmates.

According to reports, the sexual relationships occurred at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham (Wales) over the past six years.

Jennifer Gavan (pictured top left), a 27-year-old woman, was sentenced to eight months imprisonment in December for smuggling a mobile phone for her lover Alex Coxon, 25 so that she could send him photos of herself via Snapchat.

During the affair that lasted from April 2020 to July 2020, she was also seen kissing him.

After accepting PS150 to bring the phone in, the officer pleaded guilty to misconduct in public office.

Gunn was also jailed for one-year in 2019 after a fling, with Khuram Razaq (29), who is 'dangerous.

Gunn, a psychology and criminology graduate, made many sexual phone calls while he was on a 12-year sentence for conspiracy and robbery. He also smuggled in two pairs of his knickers to the prisoner.

Photos of the pair kissing and hugging in their cell were found when we searched his cell.

In the same year, Emily Watson was sentenced to one year in prison for engaging in s*x with John McGee.

After hearing that she had spent so much time with him, the Mold Crown Court in the UK launched an investigation.

They had been alone together in his cell on three occasions when she performed a s*x act on him twice and had intercourse once.

A Prison Service spokesman said: ‘The overwhelming majority of Prison Service staff are hardworking and dedicated and we will not hesitate to punish those who break the rules.

‘Over 500 members of staff at HMP Berwyn have undertaken corruption prevention training in the last 18 months and our enhanced security is protecting the prison against attempts to smuggle illicit items inside.’
