Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has taken to her Twitter to explain the condition that a man must meet to be able to marry the mother of his ex-wife or girlfriend. This is coming a day after Vanguard reported that the Kano State Hisbah had cleared a woman who married her daughter's suitor.

In her tweet, Aisha said that it is perfectly accepted in Islam. She said it is still acceptable even if the suitor and the woman's daughter have tied the knot, as long as the marriage or relationship has not been consummated. She wrote, "It is once there is consummation that marriage now becomes forbidden between them."

Recall that a woman by the name Malama Khadija Rano, was being investigated by the Kano State Hisbah after she dissolved her marriage to marry her daughter's suitor.

Here is what Vanguard reported yesterday, "Ahmed said Khadija was divorced by her husband and had observed the three months waiting period (iddah) prescribed by Islam, later married a man whom her biological daughter had earlier rejected."
