Governor Samuel Ortom's convoy was in an accident on Friday morning, January 20.

His convoy was headed to the Peoples Democratic Party's governorship campaign rally at Utokon community, Ado LGA when the accident occurred.

Punch reported that the driver of a branded bus fully loaded with PDP supporters lost control and rammed into three vehicles; a Jeep, a security vehicle, and another bus in the convoy.

Although no deaths were reported, some people were injured, including three lawmakers of the state house of assembly. The lawmakers were taken to the hospital and are in "stable condition".

The convoy included the state's deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu; Senator Abba Moro; House of Representatives members, and House of Assembly members from Benue South district; among other top government and party officials in the state.
