Atiku Abubakar (the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party) and Iyorchia Ayu (the party's National Chairman), paid a condolences visit to Jonah Jang at his Du Country home in Jos following Saturday's tragic accident that claimed 16 lives and left 83 other party supporters seriously injured.

The truck carrying party supporters was said to have crashed close to a bridge in Panyam, Mangu LGA.

Atiku expressed his sorrow at the passing of party supporters and said that they would never be forgotten.

“For us,the loss is a very painful one for the lives of the young ones to be cut short at their prime.

“We are with you in prayers in this sad moment and we want to assure you that we will stand by you to make sure that those in the hospital receive the best medical attention,” Atiku said.

The former Vice President commended Senator Jang for the leadership of the PDP in Plateau and assured him, “Nobody makes sacrifices without the sacrifice being acknowledged and appreciated.”

Atiku also announced N30 million cash donation to assist accident victims still being treated at various hospitals throughout the state.

Ayu also condoled the PDP family and people in Plateau State for the tragic incident and prayed to God for strength to carry the loss.

Ayu announced N10 million donation to accident victims on behalf of the national PDP, and stated that their sacrifices will not go unnoticed.

He promised that they would continue working hard not just for the PDP, but for the country "to rebuild the country with greater facilities that such a thing will not happen again."

Senator Jang thanked former Vice President for the visit and described the gesture as a sign of love, which was something the PDP was well-known for.
