President Buhari stated that some people tried to destroy Nigeria, but God stopped them all.

Femi Adesina released a statement stating that the President made this comment during his visit to the Palace of the Emir of Damaturu, Hashimi II El-Kanemi on Monday, January 9.

The President also said the country has "bounced back" from its troubled days and thanked men of the Armed Forces and the Police for their sacrifices in protecting the country.

"There was a deliberate attempt to destroy Nigeria but God did not permit it. God has helped Nigeria to bounce back."' the President was quoted as saying

The President expressed delight at the restoration of normalcy and stability in Yobe State and Northeast Nigeria, and thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, and Prof Babagana Zulum of Borno State for their perseverance in rebuilding schools, health centers, and other institutions that were destroyed by terrorists.
