Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has fired the state Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Dr Muhammad Tahar Adam, also known as "Baba Impossible".

Malam Muhammad Garba (state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs), released a statement containing the commissioner's sack on Saturday, December 31.

Tahar Adam was accused of running his office's affairs as a personal business and also unilaterally reducing the working days of ministry staff, exempting Wednesdays and Fridays.

He was also accused of operating without consultation and not being loyal to the government.

The statement was as follows:

"The sacking of the commissioner and member of the state executive council followed his unbecoming attitude as a public servant holding sensitive office, as well as unguarded utterances."

As a replacement, the governor has named Dr Nazifi Ishaq Bichi of Bayero University Kano.
