Mallam Muhammad Bello, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has felicitated with residents on the Christmas celebration and has urged for peace and unity within the territory.

In his Sunday Christmas message to residents, the Minister stated that the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ was synonymous with love, charity, peaceful coexistence, and unity. He therefore urged residents to make the most of the opportunity to practice these virtues.

Bello also called for prayers for the country's leaders and the coming general election in 2023.

He called for security awareness during the festive season and asked residents to adhere to all security agency rules, as well as ensure a clean and tidy FCT.

“On behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, I wish to express my warm felicitations to all residents of the FCT especially the Christian faithful on the joyous celebration of Christmas. The season of Christmas which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ is synonymous with love for humanity, charity, peaceful co-existence and unity.

“Let us therefore use the opportunity of the Christmas celebration to reflect on and imbibe these virtues as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. I enjoin us therefore to utilise the opportunity that the Christmas season brings to pray for peaceful elections and the enthronement of good governance and deepening of our democratic values in the years ahead.”

“For the duration of the yuletide, residents are enjoined to be security conscious and abide by all the guidelines as postulated by the security agencies.

“As we celebrate, let us also be guided by all extant rules regulating our daily activities in the territory, especially as regards to the city sanitation and observance of all traffic regulations.
