Adeleke’s police, DSS operatives clash over roles by D1ANA(f) : 8:42 am On Dec 19, 2022

On Sunday, new facts were revealed about why Department of State Security operatives who had been deployed to work with Senator Ademola Adeleke (Osun State Governor) were removed from their posts by the state command of that service.

A group Osun Shall Rise Again had brought the issue of DSS operatives being withdrawn to the forefront on Saturday in a statement signed by its secretary and chairman, Saheed Bakare and Lanre Akeju.

OSRA stated that Adeleke's "unguarded utterances" to the operatives caused the Osun Command to withdraw them.

But findings revealed that a clash ocurred between the police team and the DSS team deployed to work with Adeleke last Thursday.

An anonymous security source who spoke out on the matter said that "The DSS headquarters in Abuja had posted an officer to work with Adeleke and assigned to him the role of Chief Security Officer.

It was also learned that Abuja's force headquarters posted a police officer, and assigned him the position of Chief Security Officer, a few weeks after DSS operatives resumed work.

According to reports, the development caused conflict between the security agencies.

It was also discovered that the matter reached its climax on Thursday, when the head of the police force brought his colleagues from State Criminal Investigation Bureau to the security post. This was supposed to have been manned by Adeleke's DSS operatives.

It was not possible to confirm Adeleke's reaction to the reported altercation between the two groups. However, the Osun State Command of the Service is reported to have immediately instructed its operatives that they report back to the office once the matter was reported.

In a statement released on Sunday, Olawale Rasheed (spokesman to the governor), confirmed that there was disagreement between DSS personnel and the governor's police operatives.

He said, “The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a report on the alleged withdrawal of security personnel from Governor Ademola Adeleke.

“We want to make it clear that this is a minor disagreement between officers from the Department of State Service and the Police.

“The matter has been reported to the headquarters of the two security agencies for resolution. The issue is being sorted out.”

“We reassure members of the public that there is no cause for alarm. Your Governor is fully secured, and governance is proceeding without let or hindrance.”

Aren't they supposed to work together to the end of providing security for the governor
