Major General Babagana Monguno, the National Security Adviser (rtd), warned state governors not to use thugs against opposition candidates from mounting campaign materials within their states. He said that security agencies would soon capture such elements.

Speaking at the state house today, December 1, Monguno warned that there will be no hiding place for politicians who use thugs to ferment pre-electoral violence.

The NSA blamed reports of state governors implementing policies that prevent the presence of opposition campaign materials in their states on an inferiority complex.

He then stressed that President Muhammadu Buhari had given clear instructions that the forthcoming elections in 2023 must be free, fair and credible.
