Police in Adamawa arrested Bilkisu, a 36-year-old mother of eight children, for allegedly helping her husband Nafiu Yusuf in the kidnapping.

The operatives of the command captured the accused and her husband. They were among 27 suspects paraded on Wednesday, November 30, by S.K Akande (Commissioner of Police).

According to the police, the woman was nabbed following the arrest of her husband who eventually led the operatives to his residence for a search. It was discovered that she helps her husband to hide the AK-47 riffle he uses in perpetrating the alleged crime.

Bilkisu, who was being interrogated, denied the allegation but said that she saw the weapon under their beds and decided to keep it there for the safety of her children. She claimed that she had never seen or touched such a weapon before and that she only saw it when her husband went to the farm.

She said she kept the weapon hidden for three days, not knowing her husband was arrested. She said that she had made a mistake by failing to report it to the police.

On his part, Nafiu, said he has never committed any crime with it, and that he was given the gun for onward delivery to someone else.
