Adamu Habib a 50-year-old was sentenced by the Upper Area Court in Karu, Abuja to four months imprisonment for stealing two packets of chewing gum.

The convict, who resides in Garki Village, pleaded guilty to theft.

Ishaq Hadsan, a judge, delivered judgment on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. He gave the convict the option of a N10,000 fine and warned him not to commit any crime again, NAN reports.

Also, Mr. Hassan ordered that the convict pay N12 840 as restitution.

Olarewaju Olsho, the Prosecution Counsel, stated to the court that Joseph Sunday, Abuja's Faxx Supermarket complainant, had reported the matter to the Durumi Police Station, on November 7.

According to Mr. Osho, the convict allegedly stole two packs of "orbit" gum worth N12,840 on October 18.

He said that during a routine police investigation, the convict admitted to committing the offense.

He said that the offense was against Section 287 of the Penal Code.
