Operatives from the Joint Task Force (JTF), Ekiti, have arrested two kidnap suspects.

The suspects who held their four victims hostage for days were arrested by a JTF comprising the military, police, Amotekun corps, and local hunters.

Two teachers, a principal, and a nurse were among the victims. They were taken hostage at Irele-Ekiti in the Ajoni Local Council Development Area, Ekiti State.

Also recovered was the N3 million that the suspects had taken from the victims. Michael Ogungbemi (Chairman of Ajoni LCDA), confirmed that the rescue operation was successful.

Three of the victims they had in their possession at the time were released by police as soon as they realized that the operation was coming toward them. This provided further information for the operation.

“Part of the ransom collected from the victims was recovered and the released victims are now in the hospital receiving medical treatments.

“The JTF also succeeded in apprehending two suspects, who are now undergoing interrogation and investigation by the police.”

Commandant of Amotekun Corps in Ekiti State, Brig Gen. Joe Komolafe, also disclosed that those arrested are now in police custody, while the freed victims have received adequate treatment in the hospital.

Komolafe said;

“I can confirm to you that two suspects arrested are being held by the police. Regarding the freed victims, they were initially taken to the hospital, but they have reunited with their respective families.”
