Three siblings died in a fire at Kabuga Yan Azara in Gwale Local Government Area, Kano State.

Six-year-old Saddiqa Salisu, Abdulsamad 15, and Fatima Itsiyaku were identified as the victims.

Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi (spokesman for Kano State Fire Service), confirmed the incident in a statement released on Tuesday November 22. He stated that the fire involving a storey building occurred on Monday night, November 21, 2022.

"We received an emergency call from Marwa Umar at about 10:40 p.m that there was a fire outbreak at Kabuga and immediately sent a rescue team to the scene at about 10:50pm to prevent the fire from spreading to other houses. Our men evacuated three unconscious bodies which were later confirmed dead,"

Abdullahi said that the service had already begun an investigation into the cause.

He urged the public to use electric and fire appliances with caution and to report any drowning, fire incident or road accident to the nearest fire service office.
