According to the Independent National Electoral Commission in Imo State, more than 300,000. permanent voter cards (PVCs), are still not collected in the 27 local government offices of the state.

Inec's spokesperson in the State, Dr. Chinenye Chijioke Osuji, confirmed that this was true and urged residents to pick their PVCs to take part in the 2023 general elections.

She also appealed to the citizens to take advantage of the ongoing display of the preliminary register of voters to cross-check the register and put in their claims and objections where necessary.

A spokesperson for INEC stated that this would allow INEC to create a clean electoral register.

The statement added;

“INEC in Imo State craves the indulgence of the citizens, please, as this is a civic responsibility we owe ourselves.”
