Armed robbers entered the University of Ibadan's staff quarters and killed Vincent Odinko, an official of National Examinations Council (NECO).

The Nation reported on Friday, November 4th that gunmen entered the boys quarters (BQ), a staff building where the man lived with his family and shot him dead.

According to reports, he was working on his laptop when the armed robbers entered his home last Friday night.

Although details about his death were not available at press time, it was learnt that the robbers stole the laptop and mobile phones of the occupants.

While the deceased was a member the NECO's SSCE Internal Unit in Ibadan, his wife was a staff member of the university.

Adewale Osifeso (spokesperson for the State Police Command), confirmed that the incident occurred and said they are now investigating to find Odinko's killers.

A member of the university community who spoke to The Nation in confidence described the development as "extremely disturbing."

The residents were puzzled as to why an institutions with perimeter fencing, good security architecture and personnel could be experiencing security breaches that even led to killing.
