A police station in Magami community of Gusau, Zamfara State was attacked on Tuesday October 25th, by bandits who also stole the phones of police officers on duty.

Premium Times reported that gunmen arrived in the area at 3:40 p.m. and immediately went to the police station.

Abdul Balarabe, a local journalist, suggested that the terrorists may have used the attack to send a clear message to the security agencies in the state.

Balarabe said;

"From what I've learnt so far, the terrorists didn't hurt any of the policemen they found at the counter but only collected their phones and other valuables and made some threats."

Also, it was discovered that terrorists shot into the air after collecting the phones from the police officers. This caused a lot of trouble before they returned to the bush.

The Nation reported that bandits also attacked the Funtua Gusau highway in the state the same Tuesday.

Balarabe also revealed that a commuter was twice shot in the leg when the driver of the vehicle he was travelling in refused to stop after being asked to by gunmen.

He continued:

"Around 1pm today (Tuesday), the terrorists came out in large numbers and blocked the road. The person shot was in a vehicle that refused to stop."

According to the journalist, when soldiers arrived at the scene and cleared the road, the terrorists flee through a bush path and blocked Wanzamai to Yankara for more than 30 minutes.
