The National Emergency Management Agency has received a batch of 137 stranded Nigerians from Libya. This was confirmed by the agency in a statement issued Tuesday, October 25, in Lagos. NEMA reported that the returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammad International airport, Cargo Wing, and Ikeja aboard Al Buraq Air Boeing 737-880 at 5.15 p.m. on Monday evening. There were 80 males and 52 females returning, as well as three infants. Mustapha Ahmed, Director General, NEMA, officially received the returned citizens on behalf of the Federal Government. He advised them to take lessons from their experiences and become law-abiding citizens. Ahmed was represented in Lagos by Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye (Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office of the Agency). Almost 3,000 Nigerians have been evacuated from Libya since January with as many as 542 stranded Nigerians from the United Arab Emirates returning on Sunday. |
