Man in court for stealing Bibles from Lagos supermarket by atoluwash(m) : 5:49 am On Oct 18, 2022 |
Godwin Idumu a 37-year-old man was on Monday, October 17, charged at an Ikeja Magistrates' Court for allegedly stealing four Bibles from a supermarket. The Bibles valued at N72,230 were allegedly stolen by the defendant, a sales representative, who lives at 9 Emmanuel St. in Maryland, Lagos. Insp Felicia Okwori (prosecutor) told the court that the offenses had been committed in December. 4, 2021, and 3, 2022 at Ebeano Supermarket at G.R.A., Ikeja. Okwori stated that the defendant had been at the supermarket in December, and he stole two Bibles valued at N51.080. Okwori also claimed that the defendant was seen through Closed-Circuit Television after he left. The prosecutor said that the defendant came again and stole another two bibles valued at N21,150 and on his way out, he was caught. Okwori stated that the total amount of the Bibles he stole was N72.230. This property is owned by Ebeano Supermarket. The offenses, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Magistrate, Mrs. H. B Mogaji, granted the defendant bail of N200,000 with one surety in like sum. Mogaji adjourned the case until November 25, 2022, for trial. |
