A fake soldier has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, in Keffi-Wambai, Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa state for allegedly defrauding 22 persons.

32-year-old Moses Ayaka who was paraded at the NSCDC headquarters in Lafia by the commandant, Abbas Bappa-Muhammed, on Wednesday, September 21, was arrested following a tip-off.

Public Relations Officer of the command, DSC Jerry Victor, said Ayaka was arrested on September 9, 2022, at about 5 pm.

He was nabbed with various items belonging to the military. The suspect confessed to the crime and told the command that some of the items were sold to him by one Lance Corporal (LCPL) Gabriel serving in Maiduguri, Borno State, and LCPL Daniel serving in Calabar, Cross-River State.

He also confessed to having defrauded over 22 individuals to the tune of N440,000. Ayaka blamed the devil and also pleaded for leniency.

Items recovered from the suspect include a set of camouflage, a P-Cap tie, a military inner vest, a jack-knife, and a motorcycle the suspect allegedly stole from one of his victims.

Jerry Victor said the suspect will be prosecuted after the investigation.
