According to Osun's Police Command, Olonade Tomiwa (a 19-year-old student at Ipetu-Ijesa College of Technology) committed suicide in Ilesa.

SP Yemisi Opalola in Osogbo released a statement stating that the deceased was found hanging from a telephone cable in the compound.

She stated that Agboola Olusola the youth leader of the town and reported the case to Ilesa A' Division.

A spokesperson for the command stated that no evidence of violence was found on the corpse of the victim when police arrived at the scene. She stated that the police took photos of the scene, and the corpse was placed at Wesley Guild Hospital mortuary.

She added that an investigation had commenced into the matter.
