Nyime Nbride 30 years old father was remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Lagos State by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter.

Nbride, who resides at Ajegunle Street in Ilupeju (Lagos), is being tried on three counts of sexual assault, defilement, and indecent treatment.

E. Kubeinje was the Chief Magistrate and did not accept the plea of the defendant because he lacked jurisdiction.

Kubeinje directed the police to turn the case file over to the Directorate of Public Prosecution. The case was adjourned until November 13, 2022.

Kehinde Ajayi, the prosecutor, told the court earlier that the defendant had committed the offense on February 22, 2022.

She said that the offenses happened at his residence at Ajegunle Street, Ilupeju, area of Lagos State, adding that the girl's mother reported the case to the police.

Ajayi said the victim confirmed that she had been molested by her father more than once in his room.

According to the prosecutor, the offense committed is punishable under Sections 135, 137, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
